In February 2010, the Boy Scouts of America will celebrate 100 years as an organization. Founded as an outlet to prepare every eligible youth in America to become a participating citizen and leader, BSA has more than fulfilled its mission. Today, as we celebrate our first 100 years, we not only reflect on our rich history, but lay the foundation for a strong future, as well.

The W. D. Boyce Council's 100th celebration programs are listed below

1. Scouting for Food
Reach out to the Community! All Scouts are asked to participate in making an impact in neighborhoods by helping to feed the hungry.  The Scouts are asked to hang Scouting for Food bags on door handles in your neighborhoods.  On Oct. 24, 2009, starting at 9:00 a.m.  Scouts are asked then to collect the plastic bags and deliever to the closest food pantry.  Note: please call your local food pantry before delivering the food.  Times and days of availabilty may differ for food drop off.

When taking the food to the pantry be sure to write down the number of cans or the pounds you collected.  Check out the new service hour form below for details!

Bags are available at the Peoria or Bloomington Scout Service Center, Roundtables and from your District Executive.

A Year of Celebration, A Century of Making a Difference
The BSA is honoring the impact made by a century of living by the Scout Oath and Law.  Our recognition program rewards Scouts, leaders, and alumni for devotion to core Scouting values.  To earn five awards, Scouts must demonstrate personal growth and teamwork.  Adults and Scouting alumni must teach skills and become more involved in Scouting.  By engaging the entire Scouting family, this program demonstrates the gifts Scouting give to communities and individuals across America.
